Sunshine is wonderful but eternal summer, after several years of waiting for a Seasons expansion in vain, can get to be a drag.
To be interesting, to be able to set the mood of a scene, weather needs to be variable.

The thing I wanted most in the game was falling rain.
As there was none to be found, I decided to make my own.

Figuring out how to create rain was a puzzle that stayed in the back of my mind, unsolvable, for months.
Until a few days ago, that is, when while trying out some experiments, I came up with a new idea.
Once I figured out rain, I added snow and Rainfall and Snow was born.
Move over sunshine.

Rainfall and Snow is a wide, multiple story height, low poly, surface of constantly falling rain or snow. Because it is so tall, you can take pictures or movies both close up and from a distance without ruining the effect.
Rainfall and Snow comes with repeat placement function, allowing you to cover any area easily, even to reach out beyond the confines of your lot, letting your surroundings take on the feel of real, uninterrupted weather. To increase the intensity of the rain or snowfall multiple sheets can be overlapped, giving an enhanced feel of depth.

Rainfall and Snow isn't just pretty, it's functional. Rain/snow sheets can be placed virtually anywhere, including on the surface of water. (Placement on some surfaces may require bb.moveobjects cheat)
Sims can walk through the snow/rain, and when it has been placed over a pool, swim though it.
Like real weather, rain/snow will respond to the time of day and lighting.
Adding streetlights is recommended in a night scene, to highlight the tumbling snow or rain.

However realistic it might seem, neither rain or snow will not cause your Sims to get wet.( A good thing since they seem to have barely any outerwear.)

Interactions:

Clicking on either the rain or snow object will open a viewing interaction for your SIm. If you select it, your SIm will gaze at the falling snow or rain with interest. (The color interaction is not functional for this object.)

When instructing your Sim to go somewhere make sure to click between the sheets of precipitation, where the ground is bare.
When clicking on your Sim to give them commands like changing clothes, zoom in, so as to more easily click directly on your Sim.
