Default No longer registers that I have saves.
When I try to open my game now its not showing I have any saves that I can load. And I got a message saying the save I'm trying to load was saved with a newer version of Sims 4 than I have installed. So I'm baffled and I exit out. Try to check for an update in Origin and it tells me I'm up to date...

I'm having the same error and I've tried everything.
Everything was going great until I updated to the new
patch. I hate to think that I lost 120 hours of progress
because of some bug. I hope someone finds a fix
for this soon.

I have found a *hopefully permanent* fix for this. It worked
for me and I was getting error 22 and error 0 for the past
two days. Here's what I did:

1. Move the saves folder from your sims 4 folder to somewhere else.
2. Delete all files in your sims 4 cache.
3. Run the sims 4 and make a new sim in cas.
4. Move the new sim in a house and "save as". Name it whatever.
5. Then exit to main menu and don't save. Just exit to main menu.
6. While you're in the sims 4 screen, go over to your old saves that you moved
in windows explorer (or whatever file manager you use).
7. Copy all of them except the one called slot000001.save and
any other saves that are named slot0000001.
8. Paste them into your the sims 4/saves folder.
9. Go back into your game and see if you can load them. If you can load
your old saves, load them one by one and make new saves for them.
10. After you have made new saves for all of your old games, delete your
old saves.

I did this and restarted the game 2 times without getting any more errors.
I hope it helps you keep your games, NecroVonK.

I'm sorry about that. I know what its like to lose your favorite save game.
It happened to me in sims 3. Did it get accidentally deleted?

Edit- I forgot to mention this. If your favorite family was in your old
slot000001 save, you can just rename it to a something else like
slot000011.save or a number higher than your last save number
in your saves folder and repeat those steps with that file. I hope you
will be able to play your favorite save again.

I ran into this issue as well (these posts definitely helped!) and found that it also helps (if you happen to be a mac user) to tweak your graphics settings. I kept encountering this issue suddenly after months of no problems whatsoever, and at first I thought it was my cc - but even after cleaning that up (all from solid sources, and minimal to begin with) I kept having the issue -- turns out, I had my graphics settings on high for gallery photos, and forgot to change them back. After cleaning up my cache, saves, and putting my graphics settings in order, it seems to have been fully resolved (fingers-crossed, knock on wood!).

Such a brilliant way for EA to name folders. I tell ya, they get smarter by the minute.
