Default The Sims Resource is a god awful website

Does this say enough? Not only is the site very slow on purpose so you pay for some dumbass subscription, you're also being bombarded by 5 ads including 1 pop up ad. I honestly hate this website and I'm curious who owns it since he or she really has to rethink their business tactics.

That's why I rarely use it and don't put them on my Adblocker whitelist. They have more ads than a po- that's just ridiculous.

If you remember me, I'm awesome!

You mean 5 ads or 40. It also goes up over time if you leave any TSR page sitting. I came back to ABP reporting 1,200+ once.

What currently gets around everything for me is having this tampermonkey script installed (sorry if sharing isn't allowed, I just figured since TSR bashing is a pastime here nobody would mind ).

I've never really had a problem with TSR. They have some really good stuff, my favorite dining room came from there. However, they also have some really bad downloads. I will admit I haven't visited there in at least a year.

I uploaded a few patterns several years ago. Though I can't really remember what they all were.

I whitelisted them and STILL had it say I was using an ad blocker. I use it all the time, so I just decided to pay for a VIP membership. it's not that expensive, and is honestly worth it

I've got a lot of stuff from there but I always dread downloading anything on TSR because it takes fracking forever! you can adblock to speed up the page loading time, but then it will block your download so I've just ended up whitelisting it in an attempt to shorten the time I have to spend on the site... surely one site doesn't need so many ads?

I have a hard and fast rule. I don't disable adblock, and not just because I don't know how to do it. The bottom line is that it's my computer and I decide what programs will be used. I hate TSR anyway and REALLY hate the way they don't tell you they are going to block the download because of the adblock. They make you wait and wait and wait. When you finally get through all the penalty boxes they have because you aren't a member and have adblock, THEN they tell you that you're blocked. That's just mean.

I just quit going there. I'm not saying they don't have nice stuff; I just want to like the places I download from. With TSR I'm worried they'll stick a virus on my computer because I won't join and pay them.

I downloaded a tampermonkey plugin that someone recommended a while ago. It blocks the TSR trash (like you're a "premium" user) and lets you snag a download and get the heck out of there. I love it.

I don't understand how they don't see that their greed is going to cause them to lose ad revenue. If it was just a couple of ads, I wouldn't mind. Gotta keep the site running, right? It's the same excuse they used for paid downloads back in the day. But the amount of ads literally crashes my browser. If I don't block them, I usually can't even use TSR. So no, TSR, I will not disable my adblocker, and will continue to find workarounds past your garbage.

If only there was a solution for freaking ad.fly. A third of tumblr uses that site, which would be fine if it was only a 5 second ad. But it's a 5 second ad with 2-5 popups, and sometimes those pop-ups are malicious. Can't download your stuff if I get a big popup with an alarm clock noise and a text-to-speech voice yelling at me "CRITICAL ALERT FROM MICROSOFT- YOUR COMPUTER-" over and over again. It locked me out of firefox, too, so I had to completely close everything with the task manager. Another time, I got a good ol' porn popup. What if I was a 10 year old? But at least you got your click count higher so you can make a whopping $2, right? Ugh.

I really got into it with someone on a different thread about TSR. Kid got pretty obnoxious and said some damn stupid things all because I said often times the dlc doesn't work or some cause crashes (which they did). I actually wrote 6 paragraphs on how stupid he sounded and why along with my evidence and experience. Seriously, it was beyond uncalled for. You can get banned from other forums and groups if you say the shit he did.

If you use Firefox, then switch to U-Block Origin. U-Block blocks far more then ABP, which results i can download from tsr in a few seconds. I use tsr sometimes.

There is a solution for that malware called adf.ly. For firefox there is a plugin called Adf.ly skipper. It skips that adf.ly page and goes directly to the downloadsite. However, those who use that adf.ly garbage often hid it behind a second referrallink, such as shorte, destty and the like. There is also a solution for that; linkexpander (linkexpander dot com) and urlexpander (urlexpander dot net). I always copy such links into either one of those 2 and with the adf.ly skipper plugin it also bypasses agressive adf.ly links. Jennisims for example has the habit of posting agressive referral links. Tried to say something about that once, but to no avail.

i use this website all the time but with my new laptop i'm gonna take this slow.

however i notice there are ads in there and i hate the waiting when you want to download something very nice
and sometimes when i download things too much, the website will fall out, then i get this letter: the website won't work for awhile, come back later or something like that

that's really irritating

Once, I turned off my adblocker so I could download a clothing object I thought looked pretty and got bombarded by 8 to 10 ads on the page. I grabbed the file, got the hell out and I've never went back. Having ads to generate site revenue is fine, but that much ad space and cycling different ads every minute is just overkill and asking for a virus.

Yeah, the ads are pretty ridiculous and it's not user friendly for phones or slow laptops if you're not a VIP. Just one of the many reasons i stopped uploading there. I still shop there for CC, but it's no longer my first stop.

Maybe they don't have enough money and need the ads. You can browse for what you want without being showed a ton of ads. The main ad that makes you wait for a minute or so is when you download something. So to me it's not as bad. I can definitely see why it bothers people. But since I don't download that many CCs and prefer to use more script mods. But I do have to admit that that's waay too many ads just for revenue.

i wish this website (TSR) was in that website --------------------> http://svs.paysites.mustbedestroyed.org:8080/booty/ts2/ at some point.

you might get tons of cc's hacks and whatever but i prefer this one then the official websites
unless when they are gonna do anything about the waiting and ads there

i also remember i used this website first then the other one's (coolsims, peggysims, newsea, roansims, rose etc) for the cc's downloads

You must be new- TSR has always been terrible. That is what Redirectors and Add blockers are for.

i agree with joandsarah77

i know this website since august 2013 or so
i was knew at this time too so i download tons of hair's but i already hated the waiting
not just the 10 seconds thing but also the loading in general when you clicked on something very nice

i also hates that not all of the stuff are complete, hair, clothes furniture etc (i had that kind of that stuff more then the other websites)
because i remember i got failure clothes hair and however in there
and like i said earlier on the other comment: the site stops working at some time, especially when you download way too much stuff in there.

i'm kinda glad they don't download the hair stuff anymore (how weird it might sounds) or else it might take years or so when you are finally done with the cc's hacks and however stuff (i only download the hair mostly)

however i can give everyone a tip to select all of your downloads and put it on your own email

worked for me for the hacks and documents in general ;-)

I know someone who used to submit stuff there. She says they make money hand over fist.
