To be completely honest, I've never touched Sims 3 or Sims 4, but it seems like most of the coverage they get are discussions of paid patches, paid downloadable content, new-release paid expansions, paid this, paid that, when with something like just the base game version of Sims 2 you have a fully-playable game. And Sims 2 is still worthwhile to play even though it's considered an 'old' game.
