Right now I'm trying to finish up a lot that I'd describe as a 'Landmark' as much as anything (it'd be a Tomb in TS3 if that helps lol), and I found myself wondering what kind of lot zoning people prefer when there are multiple possible interpretations of a location? In this case I could easily see people using it as Residential, Community, or Lodging, depending on how they approach it, but none of those options is obviously the one RIGHT choice. In a situation like this I usually zone something as Residential just because that's the one that's most complicated to change to if you don't start with a mailbox, but what do you all prefer?

I know I'd prefer lots to be residential - like you say, easier to change to whatever you want to set them as, and much easier to keep as a residential if you want it as such.

Residential, for sure-because as Simmer22 says, it's far easier to convert a lot from residential to whatever type you want. Community back to anything is a horror show.

What do you intend to use it for?

Lol realistically *I* intend to use it as an upload and probably nothing else, since it wouldn't really mesh with the city or destinations I'm gradually building up, but if I WERE to play it, I think I'd probably set it up as a Community lot... seems like other people tend to take/prefer my same approach of zoning a lot like this as Residential if it's getting uploaded though.

Does MTS allow uploading as both types?

Why - is it just because of the mailbox? To me that seems like a minor annoyance at most.

What's the lot? Maybe it would help with realism if you vould give us some hints.

It's not just the mail box-I've tried to convert community lots before and they're somehow hardcoded to stay that under some circumstances-it's just easier at times to use the residential lot to covert it to community. The mail box and trash can are removable, at least.

Perhaps I made a mistake in converting them, but I just start with a fresh empty lot most of the time now anyway. Not worth the hassle.

Maybe all the out of world controllers need to be reset if they stay in the community loop. Most of the them should restart on their own.

In the past I found exciting to be living on a commlot and take advantage of the facilities there. In Castaways I lived on the Dharma research base.

They seem to have coded certain events to assume that there is a mail box. I moved a runaway person onto an empty lot and deleted the mailbox because it made no sense to receive mail or be billed in that situation. Her date partner was then unable to deliver flowers. They reference the front door to the mailbox. If that is important, you can easily purchase a mailbox.

If the lot is a decoration for the neighborhood view with nothing to do on it, maybe it then shouldn't be a community lot to avoid cluttering the list of travel destinations.
