Default End up with more SimPoints than you'll use from the current glitch? Come in and find someone to gift.
If you haven't already read about it, the Sims 3 Store is currently encountering a (assumed) glitch where it is giving away free SimPoints. Hurrah!
Read the second post in this thread on how to obtain them, then continue reading this post.
.
.
.
But, it seems it's totally random as to who can see the orange button and nab those points.
So, if you've ended up with more points than you have use for, or simply don't even play Sims 3 anymore and would just like to do something nice for someone - why not take advantage of EA's latest bungle and gift a stranger?

How To:
  • unlucky souls (we will call them 'giftees') who didn't get the orange button can post their Sims 3 Store username here, along with a link to something they would like to receive. Or, if they don't have anything particular in mind, can just link to their 'Wishlist' page and a 'gifter' can pick something random. Names and links will be added to a list. *Giftees should only make one request post in this thread, let's not be greedy now.*
  • a gifter should then make a reply post to the giftee they've picked, letting everyone know beforehand that they will be their gifter - this is so that multiple people don't try to gift the same person simultaneously. The giftee's name will then be marked in italics in the list as a 'pending' status.
  • once the gift is received, the giftee should post a thank you here, letting everyone know they've been taken care of. Their name will be stricken through on the list and the name of the giftee added.

I will try to keep the list updated as much as possible but I can't make guarantees, so always check the thread before gifting someone. Also, let me know if you think there's a better way to do this.

Happy Gifting!

List:
Free: (giftee's MTS name / giftee's Sims 3 Store username) - (link)
Pending: (giftee's MTS name / giftee's TS3 username) - (link)
Done: (giftee's name / giftee's TS3 username) - (link) - (gifter's MTS name)

What? More Sims 3 news, it seems impossible right? Well, there is some news coming out from the Sims 3 Store for those that have not heard. Free Simpoints!

If you have a Sims 3 Store Account and have registered your games all you have to do is the following:

1. Login at the Sims 3 Store.
2. Go to My Store Account, under your username at the top left.
3. You may or may not see an orange button that says: Redeem FREE Simpoints. (NOTE: Some people have had to refresh the page, others have not!)

4. Click the button. Goes without saying right?
5. Terms come up, read it, and accept.

6. Victory! Free Simpoints.

The amount seems to vary. Some people have said they got 500, some a 1000. My first click I got a 1000, but then I got the option to click again, which gave me an additional 1000. I have all of the stuff packs and expansions, yep including that terrible Katy Perry one. No idea if that contributes to the amount you get, but something to keep in mind if you have registered the games and perhaps do not get the same amount as your friends did.

EA is strange. We all know they do not make sense half the time. No one knows what prompted this simpoint love, but if you have an account at the Sims 3 page, have registered your games, might as well grab some points.

I'm going to guess that the store might be about ready to go the way of the dodo, gone. Save what you can for the future archives, now's the prefect chance.

Lol. I'm not too sure about that though. Why would they close down a money machine so soon? Plenty of people still play ts3 and buy from the store. It would be silly of them... but *shrugs*, it is EA after all. They operate in straaange ways

here is a link to the wishlist.

Thanks to those generous people that do gift any items. The generosity is appreciated, and for that, this one is grateful.

Thank you Mr Joy for gifting me the Learning centre, the cow plant and the casino. Thank you so much I can hardly believe I got these things, thank you. Thank you to Blondie0003 for giving me the Voodoo Doll. I'm looking forward to messing around with it.
If anyone is kind enough to get Lucky Palms for me, just gift the basic version as as far as I'm aware, the casino is the only thing that is different and I don't want anyone to waste simpoints that they could use for someone else.

While browsing your wishlists I noticed that most of you have either whole worlds, venues or large sets there so far. Which will probably exceed the capacity of many here willing to gift something. However, some of these sets are subject to the Complete Your Set discount so may I suggest that in addition you place single items on your lists that are part of the sets you want and make it possible for others to gift you these and as such help you reduce the overall cost or have several people help you in completing a set together.
And to be honest if the maximum of points I could get through the current "glitch" is 2,000 and could give these away freely I would rather spread the love among several members here then spend it on one person with one set.

Are you within the United States? They have a restriction on gifting sim points - it can't be done across national borders. And who are you on the Sims 3 store?

Edit: Pity you can't gift previously bought DLC. I have four copies of Midnight Hollow... Don't ask why.

Darn, what I'd give just to have that Artisan's Glassblowing And Jewelry Making Station premium object from the Prism Art Studio set. It is still not available separately after more than a year after its release. Heck, I'd even take the tea set from the Brunch at the Old Mill set, but again, not sold separately. That is not fair. The 12-item Prism set costs 1,900 points. That's just ridiculously expensive. The last points I'd had, I'd spent them all on my little sister who'd wanted a set I didn't care for, and I didn't have the heart to decline. Ah, well. What are big brothers for? But I digress. I do have much cheaper items on my wish list, so I'd never expect to be gifted such expensive things.

EDIT: Thank you, Mr. Joy, for the Prism Art Studio set! And thank you, lisfyre, deskita, and hkm1659 for your gifts!

Oh man. This would have been so perfect if you could get more than 2,000 points (and if you didn't have to buy the whole damn set to get some of those premium items)

Is this still going on? I'm tunafishfish on there too and I really need kid/teen clothes and hair. I hate the toddler hats, though. I feel like such a gimme pig now. *goes back to lurking*
